Solomon Gisler was born in Switzerland. He emigrated to the United States in 1877, residing in the Oxnard district for the rest of his life. He was a retired farmer. He died of a heart attack (age 79) at his home on Magnolia Avenue in Oxnard in July of 1940. He was survived by his wife Theresa and his sons, Emil, Albert, Adolph, Charles and 15 grandchildren.

S. L. Gisler is a well-to-do citizen and an early settler of New Jerusalem. His
father, Max Gisler, a native of Switzerland, was a poor but worthy and
industrious man, with a wife and thirteen children. With the intention of trying
to improve his financial condition and to better provide for his family, he
